Egyptian hand mirror which looks like an ancient artifact. Roughly cast mirror. Reflection is old world style (not as pristine as a modern mirror). Useful as a symbolic representation of a mirror in an Egyptian artifact collection. Can be used as a rudimentary mirror. The figure of the Egyptian goddess Isis forms the handle.

NOTE: item is not self standing and Nefertiti statue pictured is not included.

In Egypt, the mirror has strong symbolism with the sun disk. The offering of two mirrors in Egyptian temples stresses that the two disks represent the sun, the moon, and their inherent power. Egyptian mirrors always retained more or less the same shape as a flat, oval plate of polished copper or bronze often with a wooden or bone handle. Since the Middle Kingdom at least, the Sun-Disk provided a model for the mirror as in the case of this reproduction. The handle of this mirror is shaped in the form of the goddess Isis. Isis was regarded as the mother goddess of Egypt and symbolical mother of the king. Isis was worshiped as the "Great of Magic‚" and called the "Eye of Ra". With her husband Osiris and their son Horus they form the main triad of Egypt.

Measures 8.75"H x 4"W x 1.25"L. Made from brass metal.

My product arrived damaged due to inadequate packaging, which is not good. But the company very promptly replaced the damaged object with an undamaged one, so their customer service is excellent.
