Egyptian Sekhmet Lion Goddess Portrait Pin or Pendant Necklace 1.6W

PN# 7439
  • $58.00 USD

Our Sekhmet Jewelry Pin Brooch was adapted from a solid gold pendant shaped as lioness-headed Sekhmet, the Egyptian goddess of medicine and healing. The original was found during The University of Pennsylvania Museum's excavation (1915-1919) in the city of Memphis. The ancient capital of Egypt dates back to Dynasty 26 during the reign of Amasis (570-526 BCE). While amulets such as this one were often worn by the dead, they could also be used by the living to offer the protection of particular divinity to the wearer.

This oval-shaped pin illustrates a relief of Sekhmet at the center (1.6 in W x 1.25 in H) and is made from 24kt antique gold-plate over pewter.

It can be worn as either a pin or a pendant necklace. 18 in L gold-plate necklace included.
