## From Studio Piers to Library Shelf

Wright designed his Oak Park studio in 1898. On the piers flanking its entry he envisioned two crouching figures.

He turned to the sculptor **Richard Bock** for the work. These Oak Park studio bookends keep that pair together on one shelf. Oak Park studio bookends carry that history to a library.

## Why a Pair Works

Wright imagined two sculptures facing the street. A matched pair of Boulder Man bookends keeps that symmetry.

The Boulder is described as a symbol of the oppressed soul breaking its bonds. Each figure sits low and solid between your books.

## Display and Care

The sandstone block gives the Boulder Man bookends a firm footing. Padding under each block protects wood and glass. Dust the cast stone bookends pair with a soft brush. Frank Lloyd Wright bookends like these suit a library or study.

## Richard Bock in Brief

Richard Bock was born in Germany in 1865 and grew up in Chicago. He met Wright in Louis Sullivan's office and later made sculpture for the Larkin Building and Midway Gardens.
