## Why a Beetle?

This Egyptian scarab amulet is shaped like a dung beetle that rolls a ball in front of it. Egyptians saw the sun god Ra rolling the sun across the sky in the same way.

The larvae also transform into beetles, as the soul and body change appearance. That made the beetle a symbol of renewal.

## Osiris, Isis, and the Wedjat Eyes

The wings of this tomb scarab depict the sun god and Osiris, the mythical first pharaoh. Above them is the moon, flanked by two Wedjat eyes.

On the bottom, Osiris stands between his sisters Nephthys and Isis. The Osiris Wedjat scarab gathers protection, rebirth, and family in one tiny object.

## Display and Care

At 4 oz, this Egyptian scarab amulet is light enough to hold. Dust it with a soft dry brush. Keep it away from damp air so the green wash stays crisp.

## Amulets in Egyptian Belief

Egyptians wore scarabs in life and placed them on mummies. A scarab promised the dead a new dawn. A tomb scarab replica like this keeps that custom, and the dung beetle amulet still carries that hope.
