# Greek Plaque Battle Between Greeks and Amazons Wall Hanging Relief 26.75L

## Warrior Women Clash With Greek Heroes: A Greeks and Amazons Wall Relief

Armed fighters, rearing horses, and twisting bodies fill this **Greeks and Amazons wall relief**. It shows the legendary battle between Greeks and the Amazons, the famed warrior women of myth. The scene is full of motion and tension.

In Greek art, these clashes symbolized the struggle between familiar civilization and the mysterious peoples beyond its borders. The subject is known as the Amazonomachy. Reliefs of it were popular in classical art. Any Amazonomachy relief shows Greek sculptors at full power.

They combined athletic beauty, storytelling, and the excitement of mythological conflict. This Amazonomachy relief keeps that energy in a made-to-look-aged finish. A Greeks and Amazons wall relief reflects that taste.

## Motion Frozen in Relief

Sculptors packed the scene with diagonals. Spears, shields, and horses cross one another in a charged rhythm. This Greek battle plaque rewards a slow look. Every Greek battle plaque tells a story at a glance.

The resin is made to look aged and is ready to hang. See more in our [Greek and Roman collection](/collections/culture-greek-roman). A Greeks and Amazons wall relief suits a hall, a library, or a long study wall. This ancient Greek wall hanging brings the Parthenon era home.

## The Amazonomachy in Greek Art

Greek artists returned again and again to the war with the Amazons. The theme decorated the Parthenon metopes and the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. It also appeared on vases and sarcophagi. The subject let sculptors show bodies in extreme motion. It remains one of the great set pieces of ancient art.
