# St Michael Slaying the Devil Stained Glass 12H

## Light Strikes Down Darkness in St Michael Stained Glass

Archangel Michael stands over a fallen Lucifer, spear outstretched. This **St Michael stained glass** panel catches the moment of victory. Michael wears a red and blue cloak in bright light, while Lucifer is cast into darkness.

The Book of Revelation tells of war in heaven, led by Michael against the dragon. Artists have long shown him in action, trampling the Devil underfoot. This Archangel Michael panel follows that tradition. Every Archangel Michael panel is a story of light.

The composition runs from upper left to lower right, so the eye follows the spear. The bright light signals divine approval. The dark below shows evil cast down.

## Light Against Darkness

Stained glass is a natural home for this story, since the glass itself shines. Light falls on Michael's cloak and leaves Lucifer in shadow. This devotional stained glass panel lets viewers feel the contrast.

Christian stained glass has long used Michael as a guardian image. Christian stained glass, from cathedrals to homes, loves a victory of light. ## Archangel Michael in Art

Michael is the leader of the heavenly host and a long-standing protector in Christian tradition. Medieval pilgrims honored him at Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy. Painters from Raphael to Guido Reni showed him as a winged warrior with the Devil beneath his feet. The image became a lasting symbol of good overcoming evil, and devotional stained glass keeps it alive.
