Bayeux Harold and William Battle of Hastings Woven Wall Tapestry 76W x 27H

PN# T22650
  • $170.00 USD

The Bayeux Tapestry is a unique historical record (230 feet long), relating the events leading up to the Norman invasion of England, and culminating in a major description of the Battle of Hastings in 1066 between the armies of Harold, King of England, and William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy.

This section of the Bayeux Tapestry illustrates this scene Harold Rides to Bosham, in which Duke Harold sets out to ride to Bosham, Sussex, at the start of his mission to visit William, Duke of Normandy. Harold, holding a falcon, is preceded by his dogs, and followed by his entourage.

A supreme achievement of the Norman Romanesque, the tapestry’s highly stylized pictorial images are preserved in this beautiful contemporary rendition.
