  • $5,295.00 USD

In 1875, Rodin visited Italy and studied the art works of Renaissance masters Donatello and Michelangelo. The Italian trip was the turning point of Rodin's career which influenced the creation of this sculpture, The Age of Bronze. The Age of Bronze illustrates a male nude classically influenced in a state of calm thought. The sinuous lines of the male form are characteristic of Rodin's lifelike sculpting. The Age of Bronze sculpture gained Auguste Rodin notoriety when it created a scandal at the Paris Salon in 1877 because critics believed he had used a casting in order to get such a realistic piece.
