Reproduction of The Unicorn is Found from the Hunt of the Unicorn Series. Series of seven tapestries dating from 1495–1505. Reproduced after an original in the Metropolitan Museum, New York.

The tapestry holds Christian and pagan interpretations. The Christians believe the unicorn represents Jesus Christ and his sacrifice of death. The Virgin Mary comes into the story when they refer to the unicorn as a beast with one horn that can only be tamed by a virgin maiden. The pagans view the story as that of a medieval lore of beguiled lovers. Likely that they were commissioned by Anne of Brittany. Owned by the La Rochefoucauld family of France until John D. Rockefeller, Jr. bought them in 1922 for about a million dollars and donated them to the Metropolitan Museum.

  • Made from woven cotton on a jacquard look in the USA.
  • Available in 2 sizes: Small 35 in H x 35 in W, or Large 53 in H x 53 in W.
