This classical statue evokes timeless beauty in the idyllic form of one of Rome's great men shown nude after Greek originals. Cast directly from the original scaled Roman statue of ca. 50 B.C. by the sculptor Kleomenes. Also known as Germanicus by Kleomenes 1st Century BC, Louvre, Paris.

The Nude male statue, erroneously identified as Germanicus, a member of the family of the Emperor Augustus, probably should be considered a portrait of a member of a wealthy family of the late Republic. It is here represented with a body copied from a well-known statue of the god Hermes (Mercury), the Orator, which stood in Athens. This nude male sculpture is executed in the classicizing style popular in the 1st century B.C. when sculptors like Kleomenes looked for inspiration to the masters of the 5th and 4th centuries in Greece. A distinctive addition to your home or garden gallery, our exclusive work echoes the fine sculptures seen on European estates.

Measures 37 in H x 14 in W x 11.3 in D. Weighs 18 lbs.
