Originally found on the island of Melos by a peasant Yorgos in an underground cavern on the Aegean island of Melos, she was later taken out of Greece under unclear circumstances to Paris and placed in the Louvre Museum where she is on display today. She has been widely copied and appreciated throughout the centuries.
