As one of the Archangels, Gabriel appears to Daniel to tell him of the coming of the Messiah; a message which he later repeats to Mary in the Annunciation. This wall relief fragment of Archangel Gabriel with dove is inspired from a Van Dyck painting (1432) in the Ghent Cathedral, Belgium.
