Dancing Faun Half Man and Goat Statue from Pompeii - 8152 -
From classical mythology, the Faun is a mythical god that lived in the forest. He is associated with the revelers from the Cult of Bacchus. In appearance, the faun is a mythical hybrid creature made from a human body and goat animal characteristics like a tail and sometimes hooves. This statue reproduction of the Dancing Faun reproduces an original found during the excavations of Pompeii. The house where it was found was named after the statue, The House of the Faun in Pompeii, as it was standing as the centerpiece of the garden. The original statie is now located in the National Museum in Naples, Italy. Dancing Faun Statue from Pompeii is made from bonded bronze (bronze powder and resin), and measures 10 1/4"H x 4 3/4" x 4".
