Khonsu God of Moon and Time Protection Egyptian Statue Figurine 11HPN# 10031
Egyptian god Khonsu is the god of the moon and time, similar to Thoth. Khonsu influenced the fertility of both the people and their livestock and the creation of the universe. Khonsu was often depicted as a young mummiform man in the posture of a mummy, wearing the sidelock of youth, the curved beard of the gods, and carrying a crook and flail. Khonsu could also be depicted as a man with a falcon head with a lunar symbol. He was revered as a god of healing and was thought to extend his protection to the common people.
Here Khonsu stands on a rocky base looking off to one side. He wears the sidelock and lunar moon on his headdress. Leaning on a scepter, he is strong and fearless offering protection. The artist interprets him as a young male crocodile with in the prime of his life. Enter into his presence and gain protection under his watchful eye.
