About Louis Comfort Tiffany: By the beginning of the 20th century, Louis Comfort Tiffanys name was synonymous with the stunning pieces of art he created out of stained glass. The Tiffany lamp, first produced in 1895, became a decorative arts milestone as it fused together design, craftsmanship and functionality. Only recently was it discovered that the creative force behind these lamps was not Tiffany but actually one of his employees named Clara Driscoll. As the director, designer and crafter of the Tiffany lamps, she not only found an innovative use for the leftover glass from the firms stained glass window production, but also created one of the most iconic objects in the history of American decorative art.
