Tiffany Dragonfly Sun Catcher Stained Glass 7WPN# T85110
Louis Comfort Tiffany often used the Dragonfly motif in his art nouveau stained glass lamps. Here the beauty of a dragonfly with wings outstretched has been recreated in traditional Tiffany colors as a hanging sun catcher to place near a window after an original Dragonfly Lamp screen c. 1904. It was no. 925 in the Tiffany Studios catalogue, and was pictured in a pamphlet entitled Tiffany Lamps on page 29. In 1904, the Dragonfly Lamp screen sold for $12.00
This glass detail from the lamp screen has vibrant shades of green and purple with red to distinguish the dragonfly's eyes. The original lamp is in the collection of The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, Winter Park, Florida.
