Venus of Willendorf (woman from Willendorf), this reproduction is one of the oldest surviving icons of femininity (c. 30,000 BC). Originally found in Willendorf, Austria, this statue of a woman represents the earth, its fertility and continuation of life, from the Prehistoric Paleolithic era -- a period when fertility and hunting were essential components of survival.
The original is now in the Natural History Museum, Vienna.
