Mouvements de Danse (Movements of Dance) by Auguste Rodin (1910-1911)
As Rodin grew older, his work became increasingly sketch-like and abstract. Dance was an important source of inspiration to him. He tried to capture the essence of the movements but was not at all interested in anatomical detail. The series, Mouvements de danse (Movements of Dance) was probably based on Alda Moreno, a dancer for the Opera Comique. This pose illustrates the dancer grasping her leg in an amazing stretch up behind her torso.

CONDITION NOTE: the statue has a crack at the ankle and on the leg as pictured. The statue has an interior wire so it is held together. You could add some glue or simply enjoy. It is a small and lighter statue so it will stand just fine as is.
