Museum Drink Coasters Featuring Corneille’s Bold and Dreamlike Bird Art
Add a burst of color and imagination to your table with these museum drink coasters inspired by Guillaume Corneille’s bird paintings. Known for his expressive lines and jubilant palettes, Corneille fills his artwork with birds, flowers, and figures that feel both playful and poetic. This glass coaster set captures that spirit in four different designs, each one a small window into his dreamlike world.
These museum drink coasters feature abstract bird drawings outlined in black and filled with bright, saturated colors. The birds appear in whimsical spaces that suggest skies, branches, and imagined landscapes. Each coaster presents a different painting from Corneille’s oeuvre, so no two are alike. Together, the set brings a cheerful modern-art accent to coffee tables, side tables, home bars, and office desks.
The images are printed beneath smooth glass, keeping the artwork protected during daily use. Colors remain vivid while the top surface stays easy to wipe clean. Each coaster has four rubber feet on the underside. These help prevent slipping and protect your furniture from scratches and moisture. The set includes a black metal storage rack that keeps the coasters stacked neatly between uses. These pieces belong to the Parastone Museum Gift Collection, a European-designed line of art-inspired décor and gifts.
Each round coaster measures about 3⅞ inches across and ⅛ inch thick. The full set weighs approximately 1.2 pounds, which feels substantial without being heavy. These Corneille bird coasters work beautifully in modern, eclectic, or bohemian interiors. They pair well with other artist-themed tableware in our Drink Coasters & Coffee Mugs collection.
Bird Imagery on These Museum Drink Coasters
Corneille’s art often centers on birds as symbols of freedom, joy, and connection to nature. In these abstract bird coasters, the birds appear in simplified forms with strong outlines and expressive eyes. They share space with bright sun-like shapes, stylized plants, and dream figures. The result is a visual language that feels spontaneous yet thoughtfully composed.
As a member of the CoBrA movement, Corneille embraced instinctive mark-making and intuitive color. The bird paintings on these drink coasters reflect that approach. They recall children’s drawings, folk motifs, and mythic creatures all at once. Each coaster becomes a tiny art print that invites a second look while you enjoy tea, coffee, or an evening drink.
Collectors who enjoy Corneille’s playful style may also appreciate our humorous cat figurines in the Dubout Cat collection. Together, these pieces create a light-hearted animal theme that works well on shelves, carts, or small display areas near your table.

About the Artist: Guillaume Corneille
Guillaume Corneille (1922–2010) was a Dutch painter and a founding member of the CoBrA movement. Early in his career, he was influenced by Miró, Picasso, and Paul Klee, but he soon developed his own expressive style. Birds, cats, flowers, and human figures became the core of his visual vocabulary. His paintings combine bright colors, simplified forms, and a sense of playful imagination. Corneille spent much of his later life in France and is buried in Auvers-sur-Oise, the town where Vincent van Gogh is also buried.
