Where the Quarrymen Rehearsed
In 1958 George Harrison joined Paul McCartney and John Lennon in the Quarrymen. He was 15. The band met often to practice at George's parents' house.
The living room hosted some of the earliest rehearsals of the group that became the Beatles. This George Harrison house stands in Speke, in southeast Liverpool.
A Door Frame From the Attic
The Harrisons left in 1962. The house was rented out for about forty years, and a Beatles fan bought it in 2014. The door frame was removed after the family departed and kept in the attic.
Each Beatles memorabilia piece here is cut by hand from that frame. Explore more in our English and British History Collection.
Display and Care
Keep the fragment in its case, away from damp and direct sun. Wood can dry and crack.
About the Harrisons
The Harrison family moved into this George Harrison house in 1949. Harold drove a school bus and Louise taught ballroom dance. At 14 George taught himself guitar. The Quarrymen rehearsals followed in that same house.
