A Giant of the Late Cretaceous

Alamosaurus was a titanosaur, a long-necked sauropod. The supplier gives its length as about 85 feet and its weight as roughly 30 tons.

Park Service estimates for adults are closer to 70 feet. It appeared in North America about 70 million years ago.

Bones From Big Bend Country

Alamosaurus sanjuanensis is the only known species of its genus. Big Bend National Park yielded pelvic bones and ten linked neck vertebrae from the Javelina Formation.
