This authentic dinosaur eggshell fossil is a fragment of real Hypselosaurus eggshell from the Provence region of southern France. Hypselosaurus is believed to be a small titanosaur sauropod, measuring perhaps 12 m (40 ft) in adulthood. The eggshell fragment is enclosed in a small acrylic specimen jar inside a glass-topped riker display case measuring 4.5 in x 3.5 in, with a small informational card also serving as the certificate of authenticity.
A Fragment of a 66-Million-Year-Old Nest
This is not a cast. This is a genuine fossil - a thin but structurally complex fragment of a dinosaur egg that preserves the microscopic architecture of eggshell produced by a long-necked sauropod. The layered structure of the shell is visible under magnification and reflects the same basic egg-construction process used by modern birds.
