The City of Tanis
Tanis stood in the Nile delta and was the capital of Egypt at one time. Pharaohs of the 21st dynasty made it their capital around 1075 BCE.
Intact royal tombs of the 21st and 22nd dynasties were excavated there in 1939. A Great Sphinx of Tanis is in the Louvre.
An Ancient Recipe
Iris scent was made by mixing base oil with macerated iris flowers. Egyptians were said to tint it with a plant dye.
The oil was said to ripen for years. This Tanis flower scent borrows that old idea of a slowly deepening perfume.
The Blend
Iris leads here, in the spirit of ancient Egyptian perfume, with floral partners and a soft resin base. Find more in our Museumize incense collection.
Burning and Care
Burn it in a ventilated room on a proper holder. Never leave burning incense unattended, and keep it away from children and pets.
Burn this Egyptian iris incense for an iris magnolia lilac blend. It serves as a Tanis flower scent and an ancient Egyptian perfume. Fans of an iris magnolia lilac blend will enjoy it.
