Egyptian Sekhmet Pin and Pendant with 18L Chain -

  • 52.00 USD

Our Sekhmet Pin / Pendant Jewelry was adapted from a solid gold pendant shaped as lioness-headed Sekhmet, the Egyptian goddess of medicine and healing. The original was found during The University of Pennsylvania Museum's excavation (1915-1919) in the city of Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt and dates back to Dynasty 26 during the reign of Amasis (570-526 BCE). While amulets such as this one were often worn by the dead, they could also be used by the living to offer the protection of particular divinity to the wearer.

This oval-shaped pin illustrates a relief of Sekhmet at the center (1.6"W x 1.25"H) and is made from 24kt antique gold-plate over pewter. It can also be worn as a pendant on the included gold-plated 18"L chain.
