The Story Behind the Eloise Fox Pot

Eloise began in a storybook. Artist Jessica Hiemstra wrote Eric and Eloise, a tale of unlikely friendship between a fox and a hare. The Eric + Eloise Collection launched in 2017 as a holiday offering. It has grown into a year-round series with a whole cast of characters. Eloise is the quiet, quirky fox at the heart of the tale. As Eric and Eloise decor, this piece carries a bit of that story into your home. Each one is Jessica Hiemstra decor with its own character. Collectors seeking a footed planter pot will find a real story here.

The Cachepot Tradition

The French word cachepot means a pot that hides another pot. Fine households used them to dress plain nursery pots in something prettier. This Eloise fox pot follows that tradition in cast aluminum. It fits a 5.5 in orchid-sized drop-in pot. A footed planter pot lifts the plant to eye level. Fans of animal art will enjoy her. This Jessica Hiemstra decor makes an orchid look like a guest of honor.

The Woodland Crew Beside the Eloise Fox Pot

This piece keeps good company in a cast of Eric and Eloise decor. Margie is a scarf-adorned doe. Louie is a bow-tied mouse. Avery is a pheasant in a fascinator. Eric is a mustached hare in a monocle. Eugene is a monocled moose. Frankie is a pipe-smoking buck. Charlie is an aviator duck. Beatrice is a bear in round glasses. Emerson is a top-hatted pheasant. The collection celebrates friendship across differences. A quirky woodland crew finds belonging in one another. Each character has its own accessory and personality, so the cast invites collecting. The collection also includes wall mounts, busts, pots, bowls and candle holders.

Displaying Your Eloise Fox Pot

Set the Eloise fox pot on a sideboard, a mantel or a holiday table. At 3.8 lb, it sits steady on a shelf. It fits a 5.5 in orchid-sized drop-in pot. Try an orchid, a festive tree or fresh holiday flowers. Dust with a soft dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could dull the finish. Guests tend to notice a footed planter pot first.
