Hanging Saguaro Forms Stained Glass: Desert Light in a Window
Frank Lloyd Wright found a new geometry in the Arizona desert. He saw the saguaro as upright bands and blossoming circles. This hanging Saguaro Forms stained glass panel lets that vision glow in a window.
Wright came to love the Arizona desert, and he began Taliesin West there in 1937. The plants and rock of the Sonoran landscape shaped his late work. Saguaro Forms Cactus Flowers is one of his boldest desert studies.
He did not draw the cactus literally. Instead he reduced it to vertical bands, with circular and rectangular accents that echo flowers.
A Frank Lloyd Wright Desert Design in Glass
Frank Lloyd Wright art glass often finds its subject in nature. Here the cactus becomes rhythm, color, and upward motion. The pattern is orderly, yet it seems to grow. Saguaro Forms Cactus Flowers rewards a patient look.
Wright called his windows light screens. In a hanging format, this one works as a true light screen. Our Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass collection includes other designs that suit a window. This Frank Lloyd Wright desert design is a fine place to begin.
