The Portrait

The pendant adapts the gold funerary mask from the tomb of Tutankhamun, found in Western Thebes in 1922. The king reigned about 1333 to 1323 BC.

The mask shows a calm face under a striped headdress. A cobra and a vulture mark the brow.

Why Carnelian?

Carnelian is a red-orange quartz that Egyptians loved. They set it in amulets, rings and royal collars.

Its warm color suits gold well. A carnelian teardrop necklace has plenty of Egyptian precedent.

Wearing and Display

Wear the King Tut carnelian necklace over a plain neckline. The gold plate clasp closes at the back. Keep it dry and wipe with a soft cloth.

A Tutankhamun portrait necklace stands out against dark colors. See more in our Egyptian Museum Replicas and Museum Jewelry Necklaces.

About Tutankhamun

Tutankhamun took the throne as a boy. His tomb was found almost whole. The boy king pendant keeps that story close. This King Tut carnelian necklace blends a royal face with a bright stone.
