The Story Behind the Louie Mouse Bust

Louie began in a storybook. Artist Jessica Hiemstra wrote Eric and Eloise, a tale of unlikely friendship between a fox and a hare. The Eric + Eloise Collection launched in 2017 as a holiday offering. It has grown into a year-round series with a whole cast of characters. Louie is the smallest of the woodland crew and the most formally dressed. As Eric and Eloise decor, this piece carries a bit of that story into your home. Each one is Jessica Hiemstra bust with its own character. Collectors seeking a mouse bust sculpture will find a real story here.

The Portrait Bust, Reimagined

The portrait bust dates back to ancient Rome, where families kept likenesses of statesmen and ancestors. Renaissance patrons revived the form for scholars and princes. This Louie mouse bust applies that dignified tradition to a woodland character. A mouse bust sculpture on a shelf feels like a portrait in the round. Fans of animal art will enjoy him. This Jessica Hiemstra bust gives the old form a sense of humor.

The Woodland Crew Beside the Louie Mouse Bust

This piece keeps good company in a cast of Eric and Eloise decor. Beatrice is a bear in round glasses. Emerson is a top-hatted pheasant. Margie is a scarf-adorned doe. Avery is a pheasant in a fascinator. Eloise is a bespeckled fox. Eric is a mustached hare in a monocle. Eugene is a monocled moose. Frankie is a pipe-smoking buck. Charlie is an aviator duck. The collection celebrates friendship across differences. A quirky woodland crew finds belonging in one another. Each character has its own accessory and personality, so the cast invites collecting. The collection also includes wall mounts, busts, pots, bowls and candle holders.

Displaying Your Louie Mouse Bust

Set the Louie mouse bust on a desk, a bookshelf or a console. At 5 lb, he sits steady on a sturdy shelf. He pairs well with books and framed prints. Group several busts for a gallery of characters. Dust with a soft dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could dull the finish. Guests tend to notice a mouse bust sculpture first. Jessica Hiemstra bust like this suits any room. Eric and Eloise decor mixes easily with both vintage and modern pieces.
