The Charter at Runnymede

Rebel barons forced King John to accept the charter. Later monarchs confirmed it many times. Its clauses limit royal power and became a foundation of English liberty. The King John charter is among the best known documents in English history.

Heraldry on the Page

Medieval heraldry marked the families who stood behind the charter. The shields on this sheet add color around the Latin text. Each Magna Carta in tube arrives ready to give or display.
