What a Nose Ornament Is
Nose ornaments were among the earliest forms of facial jewelry. In Colombia they were made of gold and worn by people of rank.
The Met says Calima examples show wear and repair. They were worn in life and not only in the grave.
A Crescent Reborn
This design lifts the half moon shape from the face to the neck. A semicircular pendant necklace is easier to wear every day.
Choosing the Beads
Pick black onyx with red carnelian, plain carnelian or blue lapis. Each gives gold a different mood.
Wearing and Display
Wear the nose ornament necklace over a plain neckline. Wipe with a soft cloth.
