Painted to Welcome a Friend
Van Gogh painted his Arles sunflowers in August 1888. He was preparing the Yellow House for the painter Paul Gauguin. Two canvases were meant to hang in Gauguin's bedroom as a greeting.
The National Gallery in London notes that the bright yellow stood for happiness and sunny Provence. Van Gogh told Theo that painting them took his whole energy. The Sunflowers fanny pack brings that welcome with you.
Seven Still Lifes and a Quarrel
In all, Van Gogh painted seven sunflower still lifes in Provence between 1888 and 1889. Gauguin admired them. Yet the two men quarrelled, and Gauguin left at Christmas 1888.
In January 1889 Van Gogh returned to the subject. He planned to hang two repetitions beside his portrait of Madame Roulin as a triptych. This recycled art fanny pack keeps that hopeful project in view.
Care and Storage
This Sunflowers fanny pack uses recycled GREEN CIRCLE fabric that is water-resistant. Hand washing preserves the coating. Machine washing at 86 degrees F / 30 degrees C is fine in a washing bag.
When you are done, fold the Van Gogh belt bag into its zippered pouch. Hang it by the handle or store it flat. Keep the Sunflowers crossbody bag out of long, direct sun to protect the print. Wipe the recycled art fanny pack with a damp cloth between washes.
Display the Sunflowers fanny pack on a hook when you are home. Gift the Van Gogh belt bag to a friend who loves museums. Pick the Sunflowers crossbody bag for your next gallery visit. The recycled art fanny pack also makes a thoughtful present.
