The Rugged Individualist: A Teddy Roosevelt Statue in Three Sizes

This Teddy Roosevelt statue shows the Rough Rider, author, and conservationist who became the 26th president. It comes in three sizes, from 6 in to 20.5 in, in crushed stone and resin.

It reproduces a bust by Gleb Derujinsky. The finishes are bronze, plus antique white on the medium. The Derujinsky Roosevelt bust shows the 26th president as a rugged individualist.

A Rough Rider in Portrait

Roosevelt led the Rough Riders in 1898, and the name stuck to him for life. A Rough Rider portrait bust like this one recalls that public image. Any Teddy Roosevelt statue of this kind shows his firm jaw and glasses.

A Rough Rider portrait bust also nods to his writing. He was an author, a lecturer, and an environmentalist. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906.

The Conservation President

The National Park Service credits Roosevelt with protecting about 230 million acres of public land. He created the US Forest Service in 1905.

He set aside five national parks and 18 national monuments under the Antiquities Act of 1906. His legacy lives on in many parks. A Teddy Roosevelt statue is a fitting reminder of those places.

Display and Care

The small Teddy Roosevelt statue suits a desk, while the large bust needs a sturdy pedestal. Dust each with a soft dry cloth. The Derujinsky Roosevelt bust and any 26th president sculpture prefer dry rooms. Keep them out of damp rooms.

Gleb Derujinsky in Brief

Gleb Derujinsky lived from 1888 to 1975. Born in Russia, he left in 1919 and reached New York as a sailor. He later made busts of both Theodore and Franklin D. Roosevelt. One Derujinsky Roosevelt bust stands at the Roosevelt Birthplace in New York. This 26th president sculpture follows that tradition.
