Tiffany and the Lamp
Tiffany is best known as the American artist of the Art Nouveau and Aesthetic movements. His workshop made handmade stained glass lampshades.
Those shades had intense color and organic patterns. Louis Comfort Tiffany earrings try to catch a drop of that.
Opalescent Glass
Tiffany opened his own glass factory and worked with chemists. The result was opalescent glass with many colors in one sheet. Tiffany Studios lamps were made from it. The Dragonfly lamp of about 1910 was designed by Clara Driscoll.
Art Nouveau looked to nature for its forms. Flowers, vines and insects fill the lamps.
Wearing and Display
The sterling silver posts suit most ears. Wear them close to the face. Wipe with a soft cloth.
Red enamel flower earrings look best with neutral clothes. Louis Comfort Tiffany earrings also suit a gallery visit. See more in our Museum Jewelry Earrings.
