Tree of Life Stained Glass with Base by Klimt 12.1H -

  • 83.29 USD

Gustav Klimt is known for his ornamental interpretation of female portraits and landscape elements. This tree of life rendition is synonymous with his style. The tree has spiral tendrils which fill the panel in golden linear swirls. The colors are rich brown, amber, black and gold. It looks like a book illustration or drawing -- yet it is Klimt's unique style of painting. Ornamental - golden -- and linear. The tree of life theme is often selected by artists interested in the genesis of our existence. Klimt's sumptuous interpretation has been adapted as a stained glass made ethereal next to a light source. -- Nina, Curator

About Gustav Klimt:
Austrian painter Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) began his life in poverty, the second of seven children born to a jewelry engraver. Despite his humble childhood, a scholarship enabled him to study and train at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts. Recognized as a brilliant artist, he had a tremendous impact on the Art Nouveau movement. He was a founding member of the Vienna Secession, a group of artists who revolted against traditional style of the day and encouraged varied unconventional artistic style. Influences to his style include Egyptian, Classical Greek and Byzantine. Klimts paintings are distinguished by his use of highly ornamental gold/silver/colored spirals, swirls and geometric shapes to embellish his subject and his use of symbolism to portray themes of beauty, love, life and death.
