The Swirling Sky of Saint-Remy, Lit from Behind in Van Gogh Starry Night Stained Glass
Vincent van Gogh looked out from his asylum window at Saint-Remy and painted the sky he felt. This Van Gogh Starry Night stained glass panel sets blue and yellow swirling in the light. A village sleeps below a church spire and a tall cypress.
The Van Gogh Starry Night painting dates from June 1889. He painted it in his studio from memory, after studying the dawn sky from his window. The village is partly imagined.
The painting hangs in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Its swirling sky has become one of the most recognized images in Western art.
Blue and Gold in Motion
Van Gogh set deep blue against yellow stars and a glowing moon. His strokes spiral like currents of wind. This Post-Impressionist stained glass panel turns those strokes into color you can see through.
Light brings the sky to life in a way paint cannot. Vincent van Gogh stained glass reaches its peak with a night scene like this one. A Van Gogh Starry Night stained glass panel makes the sky move. Explore more in our stained glass collection.

Hang the panel with its chain on a wall near a light source. Van Gogh Starry Night stained glass looks best where daylight or a lamp can pass through the glass. Vincent van Gogh stained glass and Post-Impressionist stained glass both depend on light.
Vincent van Gogh in Brief
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch painter who sold very little in his lifetime. He studied in France and Belgium, taught in England, and spent his last years in France. Most of his best known works come from the final two years of his life. Fame came after his death. The Van Gogh Starry Night painting alone made Post-Impressionism a household name.
