Columns and Democracy

Classical columns stood in public buildings, grand mansions, and homes. They evoke the origins of democracy and a past age of elegance. A greek fluted column pedestal keeps that dignity in a smaller form. An assorted size column display lets you build a gallery. Each hand cast column display is finished by hand.

The Language of Fluting

Flutes are vertical grooves on a column shaft. Ionic shafts usually have 24 flutes. Builders sometimes left the shaft plain. An architectural column pedestal with flutes catches light and adds depth.

Choosing a Height

Five heights serve different jobs. Use 39 in for a statue. The 30 in size works as a console height column. The 18 in size suits an end table. An assorted size column display looks good grouped at varied heights. Browse more pieces in our Pedestals and Old World Columns collection. See the finishes and FAQ page for color chips.
